diy Door Décor

For some reason I have become obsessed with making sure my door has its own fashion at all times. For those off season holidays it’s sometimes hard to come up with something that can be left on the door at all times. (To my neighbors who still have their Christmas wreath up, this is for you.)

This door hanger, as I like to call it, is super cheap and very easy to make. To get started all you need are a few items:

·         Tacky glue

·         Scissors

·         Yarn

·         Ribbon

·         Embellishments

·         A cardboard letter of your initial

To begin, wrap that letter up with yarn. Yup, it’s seriously THAT easy.

Make sure you wrap it nice and tight, overlapping is OK. Do this around your entire letter so in the end, it looks like this.

Secure the ends of your yarn with some tacky glue to make sure they stay put. Now grab that ribbon and wrap it around the top of your letter. I wrapped it around twice and then fed my ends through the loops in the back. If you’re working with an M or any other letter that doesn’t allow you to do this, you may want to use your glue to glue each end of the ribbon to the top (looking like an upside down V once it’s hung).

Now you’re ready to throw on those embellishments. I chose to use already made felt flowers from Jo-Ann Fabrics. Place them where you’d like them and secure with tacky glue (if you're using something heavier than felt flowers, you may want to bring out the big dog, the hot glue gun).

And there you have it, your door is ready for any season that comes its way!
